Whether you were referred to us by your primary care physician, cardiologist or pulmonologist, referral to a cardiothoracic surgeon is an emotional experience for you and your family. We understand this and strive to alleviate your concerns by communicating with you throughout the continuum of care you receive at East Tennessee Cardiovascular Surgery Group. Our entire staff is dedicated to helping you get through this time.
You will receive a call from our office one to two business days prior to your appointment to confirm the date and time. If you don’t hear from us, please call before leaving home. Due to the nature of our physicians’ practice (they are often called to emergency cases), delays are infrequent yet possible. During the phone confirmation we will review the status of any records our physician may need, your insurance status and referrals required. Please bring your insurance ID card with you to your appointment.
ETCVSG participates with Medicare and most major HMO and PPO insurance plans. As a courtesy, we will file all claims with your insurance company. If you have questions regarding your insurance coverage, please contact our Insurance Department. If your insurance coverage includes co-pays we will request payment of these at the time of your visit. Be sure to contact us if your insurance coverage changes in any way. Please visit our insurance questions page for more detailed insurance information.
Please remember that you are responsible for payment of all charges, even if legal counsel represents you or if there is a third party involved such as an insurance company or workman’s compensation carrier. If you don’t have insurance coverage, please contact our Patient Account Manager for assistance in setting up financial arrangements. For your convenience, we accept cash, check, VISA and MasterCard. If you would like to pay your account balance by credit card please contact our office, (865) 632-5900.
It’s very important that you contact the office during regular office hours for all prescription refills. We are unable to refill any prescriptions after 5 p.m. M–F, and we are unable to refill any prescriptions on weekends or holidays.
